Exercise, physical activity, health, and sports: Whether competitive or recreational, choosing a class or a major, this department is about movement, health, and wellness. The Department of Kinesiology and Health students are provided interdisciplinary training in the science of human movement, health promotion, the study of exercise, and public health practice. The Department of History, Political Science and Ethnic Studies takes students on a deep dive into the culture, civilization, and government through the ages. Ethnic Studies courses examine the historical, cultural, economic and political issues that impact marginalized ethnic/racial groups. The Global Studies courses teach students to evaluate and explain the challenges and opportunities produced by global interactions.
The Upward Bound Program provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The goal of the 海角社区 TRiO Upward Bound Program is to prepare high school students from the Long Beach Unified School District area as they enroll in and successfully complete a post-secondary education program. The Program accomplishes this objective by enhancing participants鈥� academic skills, personal motivation and confidence, needed to succeed in college.
