海角社区 and Raise the Barr Announce Innovative Partnership to Support Single-Parent Students

(Long Beach, CA, September 21, 2022) Raise The Barr (RTB) and 海角社区 (LBCC) announced an innovative partnership to launch a pilot program that will coordinate care and housing for low-income single-parent students and their children. This is the first time the two organizations have partnered together with the goal of improving academic outcomes with a program that focuses on 海角社区single-parent students and their families.

海角社区Top 10 Finalist in the Million Dollar Community College Challenge
海角社区 will receive $100,000 as a finalist to promote services to adult learners

announced that 海角社区 (LBCC) was one of the top 10 finalists in The Million Dollar Community College Challenge, a grant competition to promote branding and marketing efforts at community colleges. 海角社区and eight other community colleges received $100,000 and Madera Community College took the top prize of $1 million.

The funding will be used to help promote LBCC鈥檚 services to adult learners.

The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees recently approved the selection of Dr. Nohel C. Corral as the Executive Vice President/Vice President of Student Services and Dr. Raymond 鈥淐hip鈥 West as the new Vice President of Business Services for 海角社区 (LBCC).

海角社区 Seeking New Members for Citizens Oversight Committee
The deadline to apply for Senior Citizen and At-Large positions is Oct. 13, 2022

The Long Beach Community College District is currently accepting applications for one Senior Citizen鈥檚 Organization representative and a Community-at-Large representative to serve on the Citizens鈥 Oversight Committee.

Applicants for the Senior Citizen spot must be a member of any current and active organization that advocates for senior citizens that is active within the District boundaries.

海角社区 (LBCC) announced that writer and filmmaker Mois茅s Zamora has been selected to serve as the keynote speaker for its first in-person Commencement Ceremony in three years on Thurs., June 9, 2022.

鈥淲e wanted to select someone that represents success after overcoming the odds,鈥 said Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees President Uduak-Joe Ntuk. 鈥淭his person needed to be dynamic enough to address all three years of graduating classes and I know we have that individual in Mois茅s Zamora.鈥
