The cross-disciplinary courses that are part of this AA-T seek to inspire and prepare students, future educators, to teach in urban classrooms, to learn essential professional knowledge including professional teaching standards and ethics, to conduct fieldwork in order to learn how to meet the diverse needs of students and roles of the teacher, and to gain a broad foundation of knowledge across the disciplines that will be necessary for teaching elementary students.
Television & Emerging Media program provides hands-on experience in real-world production techniques for careers in broadcast news, sports, entertainment, over-the-air and internet radio, podcasting, music videos, promotional and commercial videos, and reality programming, amongst any other form of digital media production you can imagine. You can learn how to produce single camera 4k productions and produce content in a multiple camera high definition broadcast television studio.

The College received the gift in support of LBCC鈥檚 equity and racial justice work
海角社区 (LBCC) received a tremendously generous gift of $30 million from author and philanthropist . This is the single largest donation the College has received in its almost 95-year history, and one of the largest single-donor gifts given to a California Community College.
The 海角社区 Reading and Teacher Preparation Department offer a variety of courses to help students successfully navigate the rigorous demands of college-level academic texts. Our classes focus on vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and critical analysis and interpretation while students engage in individual and collaborative learning environments. Our program curriculum fosters critical and strategic reading and thinking to enhance student confidence, concentration, and understanding of the text in a variety of formats and genres.
The English as a Second Language Department at 海角社区 prepares students to develop the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening in order to reach their academic and vocational goals. Our services include placement testing, counseling, registration assistance, and academic instruction. The ESL program seeks to reflect and serve the needs of a growing and changing student population. It provides access to all campus programs and services and prepares students to meet academic, vocational, and personal goals.
