UCI Transfer Students Honor Two 海角社区Faculty

Press Release

Two 海角社区 faculty members have been selected by the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to be recognized at its annual Educator Recognition event in May. 海角社区Counselor Sara Blasetti and English Professor Margaret Shannon were nominated this year by transfer students Stacy Castro and Megan Sabatino.

UCI partners with SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union each year to hold a ceremony in which the most academically successful transfer students identify the faculty member or counselor from their community college who played a critical role in their successful transfer process.

Castro and Sabatino are both thriving at UCI. They are grateful to LBCC, Shannon and Blasetti in particular for helping to prepare them for university-level work.

鈥淲e are excited to recognize Dr. Shannon and Ms. Blasetti at our awards ceremony for their dedication to their students鈥 success,鈥 said Alex Wimberly of the Educator Recognition Program in the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning at University of California, Irvine.
