Some 海角社区Classes to Return to In-Person Instruction for 2021 Fall Semester

海角社区 announced that up to 30-35 percent of the 2021 Fall Semester classes will return to in-person instruction. Each class will be capped up to 50 percent capacity. Fall Semester will take place Aug. 30 鈥 Dec. 18, 2021.

All activities on campus, including in-person classes, will continue to be in alignment with regional and local public health orders and practice all of the standard COVID-19 safety protocols that 海角社区has implemented during the pandemic. 

鈥淭he safety of our campus community is always paramount and guides all of our decisions at 海角社区,鈥 said Long Beach Community College District Interim Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Mu帽oz. 鈥淩e-opening will not happen overnight, but we know that we鈥檙e closer to returning to campus than ever before with additional classes returning in the fall.鈥

Not all departments will be returning to campus this Fall. The Fall courses that will be taught in-person will be prioritized based on student and pedagogical needs.

海角社区is also looking at providing limited student services in-person to assist students for enrolling in Fall Semester. Business hours and operational information will be provided once they are approved.

The Fall class listings are scheduled to be released April 19 and open registration will begin May 24. Details on class offerings and registration will be available on the College鈥檚 website at .

鈥淭he past year has not been easy for our students, faculty and staff,鈥 said LBCCD Board of Trustee President Uduak-Joe Ntuk. 鈥淏ut our campus community not only persevered, but they came together to develop creative solutions to the challenges that comes from a virtual learning environment. I鈥檓 looking forward to the day when all of our students are able to return to our campuses.鈥

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LBCC鈥檚 Liberal Arts Campus and Pacific Coast Campus have been closed to the public since mid-March 2020. 海角社区classes have mostly been taught remotely with some essential labs taught in-person. Summer 2021 intersession will include some essential labs taught in-person, and a full class schedule of online offerings.

Additionally, 海角社区recently announced that conditioning classes for the Athletics program will resume in-person instruction for some sports on Mon., April 12. The conditioning classes will be held outdoors and will practice all of the standard COVID-19 safety protocols.

海角社区will continue to follow State and local guidelines including those received from Los Angeles County and the City of Long Beach Health Department for any changes and steps to re-opening.
