Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of students, faculty and staff, the Long Beach Community College District will close both the Liberal Arts and Pacific Coast Campuses to students and members of the public starting Tues., March 17.

This decision was made by campus officials in order to limit any transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). No cases have been identified at either campus.

The changes listed below will be in effect from Tues., March 17 through Sun., April 12. Any change to this timeline will be made at a later date, in response to information gained from public health officials:

• º£½ÇÉçÇø is closing to students and members of the public starting Tues., March 17, 2020. College facilities will not be available for use.
• By Wed., March 18, º£½ÇÉçÇøwill have converted most in-person classes to temporary remote instruction wherever possible through Canvas, ConferZoom, and other modalities. Some instructors have already moved to remote instruction/online. º£½ÇÉçÇøstudents and faculty can find helpful guides to assist them at . The anticipated date of return to campus is Mon., April 13. However, this date may change as this health crisis continues to evolve. º£½ÇÉçÇøwill update the campus community on the date of return.
• Here is the list of classes that have moved to temporary remote instruction/online and will continue to operate in this manner. This list will be updated on a regular basis. 
• º£½ÇÉçÇøChild Development Centers will be closed starting Tues., March 17, 2020.
• From Thurs., March 12 through Sun., April 12, events sponsored by º£½ÇÉçÇø where the public have been invited will be postponed. Please visit for a full list of events that have been postponed. Exceptions to this is the March 16 Personnel Commission and the March 25 Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees meeting.
• Currently, º£½ÇÉçÇøis transitioning º£½ÇÉçÇøemployees to work remotely. This will be complete by the end of day Fri., March 20, 2020. Most faculty, administration and operational personnel will be working remotely, with some essential personnel to remain on campus. On Mon., March 23, 2020, only LBCC’s designated essential staff will be reporting to campuses.
