海角社区Announces New Hall of Fame Inductees

An artistic director, a photographer, a musician, a civil servant, and an educator have been named as Long Beach City College鈥檚 2020 Hall of Fame inductees, 海角社区officials recently announced.

The 2020 Hall of Fame honorees are International City Theatre鈥檚 artistic director Caryn Desai; photographer Duke Givens; concert promoter/arts presenter John Malveaux; retired Long Beach Police Commander Charles Parks; and educator Cynthia Terry. 鈥淒uring these challenging times of remote learning, it鈥檚 wonderful to celebrate our distinguished alumni and their many accomplishments to serve as an inspiration to our current students,鈥 said Long Beach Community College District Interim Superintendent-President Lou Anne Bynum.

The announcement and celebration of the 2020 inductees have been delayed due to the challenges faced by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

LBCC鈥檚 2020 Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner has been postponed until City and State health mandates can safely allow in-person gatherings. Please visit the 海角社区website for further updates.

鈥淭he 海角社区Alumni Association and Foundation are thrilled to acknowledge the 2020 Hall of Fame inductees for their incredible accomplishments and service to the College and community,鈥 said 海角社区Foundation Executive Director Paul Kaminski. 鈥淲e鈥檙e looking forward to celebrating these amazing alumni when it is safe for us to gather again in person.鈥

Established in 1972, the Hall of Fame recognizes former LBCC students who have made outstanding contributions to their chosen fields and communities. The 2020 honorees will join 185 past honorees who have attended 海角社区, from former Mayor Beverly O鈥橬eill and actor John Amos to comedian Paul Rodriguez and philanthropist Naomi Rainey-Pierson and many others.
