Electrician Certification Process
海角社区 Electrical Program has been approved by the California Apprenticeship Council as 鈥溾. The California Apprenticeship Council affirmed the January 1, 2006 deadline for certification for general electrician, residential electrician and fire/life safety technician.鈥
NOTICE FOR STUDENTS AND EMPLOYERS
Students must be enrolled in and attending classes to receive an enrollment verification letter which you will send to the DAS to receive your electrician trainee number. 鈥疶his allows you to legally work for a licensed electrician contractor. The state considers a student an officially enrolled student at the course census date. 鈥
- Fall & Spring Semester, approximately week 4
- Summer Semester, approximately week 3
- Winter Semester, approximately week 2
After census, the enrollment verification letter and appropriate form(s) will be emailed to you.
Any student then dropping out will result in 海角社区notifying the DAS of the dropout and the Trainee Number will be pulled. 鈥疭tudents must attend 150 hours of classes per year to remain eligible for trainee status. 鈥疉 typical class is 54 hours per semester. 鈥疭ee the section below for information on requesting an enrollment verification letter.

Electrician Continuing Education Units (CEUs) |
All ELECT and CISCO classes in Electrical Technology program apply to DAS Electrician Trainee education requirements and continuing education requirements for Electrician Certification renewal. |
Students Transferring from Other Programs |
Many students inquire about transferring from other private or community college electrical programs. In many cases credit can be given for community college classes. Credit by exam is available for the entry level electrical classes for those who attended a private training program. This will be covered in the orientation process. |
