Professor Marki attended Golden West College and then transferred to CSU Fullerton where she completed her BA and MA in History. She continued to study history, language and culture in Switzerland at the Instituto Cultura Italiana and in South America at the Universidad de Vina del Mar in Chile. She also spent a year in Thailand where she taught Western Civilization courses at ABAC University. After five years abroad, she returned to Southern California and began her career teaching at Long Beach City College.

In 2014, Professor Marki won the National Education Association鈥檚 award for organizing community college faculty and was selected by the 海角社区Academic Senate as the 2015 recipient for the NISOD national award recognizing excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership at community and technical colleges. She currently sits on the Statewide Advisory Board for California K-12 History and Social Science education and serves the 海角社区student population through her work on the Long Beach and Guided Pathways initiatives, as well as the 2020 CSU Transfer Mapper Project. Professor Marki enjoys traveling to historical sites and coordinating events, speakers, and museum visits for 海角社区History Club students.
