Having gotten his start at LBCC, Brian Garcia transferred to Cal State Fullerton and earned his B.A. in English in 2006. He continued his studies at UC Irvine, earning his M.A. in 2009 and his Ph.D. in 2015. His dissertation, titled 鈥溾�楨verything Was Strange鈥�: Regional Nationalisms and Ironic Identities in Early National American Fiction鈥� examines the ironic treatment of nationalism found in works of fiction written and published in the Postrevolutionary United States.

Dr. Garcia鈥檚 teaching experience and research interests encompass Rhetoric and Composition, early and nineteenth-century American studies, Religious Studies, and Literary Theory and Criticism. His favorite American cities to visit are New York and New Orleans, but there鈥檚 nowhere he鈥檇 rather live and work than Long Beach.
